SCP-1013 resembles a mythological composite organism, combining serpent scales with avian features. The anomalous effect manifests through direct eye contact: exposed subjects undergo rapid ossification beginning at the epidermis, spreading inward until complete calcification occurs within 30 seconds. Post-event remains collapse into powder, leaving only hollow impressions of former form.

Historical folklore aligns with Foundation records. Farmers described “petrified herds,” while travelers spoke of villages frozen mid-movement. These accounts span Europe and persist in modern oral traditions, now recognized as early encounters with SCP-1013. Capture required mirrored visors, reinforced crates, and sustained sedation. The entity is now secured in terrariums designed to restrict all reflective surfaces.

Research teams note SCP-1013 demonstrates curiosity toward its environment. It has been recorded tapping claws against terrarium glass in rhythmic patterns, the significance of which remains under review. Its possible extension of anomalous effects into reflective media has yet to be confirmed.
